Herbert Russell (1890-1962) was an American author and journalist. He was born in New York City and attended Columbia University. He began his career as a journalist, writing for the New York Times and other publications. He later became a successful author, writing several books on topics such as history, politics, and economics. His most famous work is The History of the United States (1930), which was a bestseller. He also wrote several novels, including The Great Adventure (1935) and The Last Days of the Republic (1937). He was a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters and the National Institute of Arts and Letters. He died in 1962 in New York City.
