James Mason is an American author and journalist. He is the author of several books, including The Darkest Summer: Pusan and Inchon 1950, The Coldest Winter: America and the Korean War, and The Nuclear Express: A Political History of the Bomb and Its Proliferation. He is a contributing editor to The National Interest and a contributing writer to The New York Times Magazine. Mason has written for The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The Atlantic, The New Republic, The New Yorker, and The New York Review of Books. He is a graduate of Harvard University and lives in Washington, D.C.
