James McKimmey Jr. (1919-2006) was an American author of science fiction, fantasy, and horror novels. He was born in New York City and attended Columbia University. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and afterwards worked as a copywriter for an advertising agency. McKimmey's first novel, Mid Pleasures and Palaces, was published in 1954. He went on to write more than 30 novels, including the popular "Rings of the Master" series. He also wrote several short stories, which were published in magazines such as The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction and Weird Tales. McKimmey was a member of the Science Fiction Writers of America and the Horror Writers Association. He was also a member of the Authors Guild. He died in 2006 at the age of 87.
