Jane Addams was a social worker and peace activist born on September 6, 1860, in Cedarville, Illinois. She co-founded Hull House, a settlement house in Chicago that provided social services to immigrants. Addams was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1931 for her work promoting international cooperation and reducing violence.
