Johan Olof Wallin (1779–1839) was a Swedish poet, theologian, and hymn writer. He was born in Stockholm, Sweden, and studied at Uppsala University. He was ordained as a priest in 1803 and served as a pastor in several parishes in Sweden. He was a member of the Swedish Academy from 1818 until his death in 1839. Wallin is best known for his hymns, which are still sung in churches today. He also wrote several books of poetry, including The Angel of Death (1892). This book is a collection of poems about death, grief, and the afterlife. Wallin's work is often compared to that of the German poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
