John Gray (1866-1934) was an English poet and novelist. He was born in London and educated at Oxford University. He was a member of the Rhymers' Club, a group of poets who met regularly in London in the 1890s. Gray's first book of poetry, Silverpoints, was published in 1893. It was well-received and established him as a major poet of the period. His other works include The Long Road (1895), The Flying Fish (1897), and The White Peacock (1911). Gray was also a novelist, writing The Immortal Moment (1902), The Great Return (1905), and The Silver Stair (1909). He was a friend of the poet W.B. Yeats and the novelist Joseph Conrad. Gray died in 1934 in London.
