John R. Bolles (1817-1890) was an American author and poet. He was born in Massachusetts and attended Harvard University. He wrote several books, including Little Henry and His Bird, which was published in 1851. He also wrote several poems, including "The Old Man's Story" and "The Old Man's Dream". He was a member of the New England Poetry Club and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He died in 1890 in Massachusetts.
