José Emilio Pacheco (1939-2015) was a Mexican poet, essayist, and literary critic. He is best known for his book "El principio del placer," which explores the themes of pleasure, desire, and the human condition. Pacheco was born in Mexico City and studied philosophy at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
