Joseph Crosby Lincoln (1870–1944) was an American author of novels, poems, and short stories, many set in a fictionalized Cape Cod. He wrote over 50 books, including the popular Cape Cod Ballads (1902). Lincoln was born in Brewster, Massachusetts, and grew up in a rural area of Cape Cod. He attended Harvard University, but left before graduating to pursue a career in writing. He wrote for various magazines and newspapers, and his first book, Cap'n Eri, was published in 1901. Lincoln's works often featured characters from the Cape Cod area, and he was known for his vivid descriptions of the region's landscape and people. He was also a popular lecturer, and often spoke about his experiences growing up in Cape Cod. Lincoln died in 1944 in Brewster, Massachusetts. He is remembered as one of the most popular authors of his time, and his works remain popular today.
