Born 1883 in Melbourne, Australia. Moved to Western Australia with her family at a young age. Educated in Perth and later in England. Married Hugo Throssell in 1919, who was a war hero and politician. Published her first novel in 1922, which was well-received by critics. Became involved in the Australian Communist Party in the 1930s. Died in 1969 at the age of 86.
