L.T. Meade

L.T. Meade (1844–1914) was a prolific British author of girls' stories. She wrote over 200 books, including novels, short stories, and non-fiction works. She was born Elizabeth Thomasina Meade in Dublin, Ireland, and was educated at home by her mother. She began writing at an early age, and her first book, A Sweet Girl Graduate, was published in 1876. Meade was a popular author in her day, and her books were widely read by young girls. Her stories often featured strong female protagonists who overcame obstacles to achieve their goals. She was also a pioneer in the field of juvenile detective fiction, writing several books featuring the young detective, Bob Martin. Meade was a member of the Society of Authors and the Society of Women Writers and Journalists. She was also a founding member of the Girls' Friendly Society, an organization dedicated to helping young women in need. She died in London in 1914.
