Laure Conan (1861-1924) was a Canadian poet and novelist. She was born in Quebec City and educated at the Ursuline Convent. She wrote in both French and English, and her works were published in both languages. Her most famous work is the novel La Sagouine (1911), which is considered a classic of Canadian literature. She also wrote several collections of poetry, including Les Fleurs du Printemps (1902) and Les Chansons de la Vie (1909). Her works often explored themes of nature, love, and faith. She was a member of the Royal Society of Canada and was awarded the Order of St. John of Jerusalem in 1921.
