Laurent Tailhade (1854–1919) was a French poet, essayist, and playwright. He was born in Paris and studied at the École Normale Supérieure. He was a member of the Symbolist movement and was associated with the Decadent movement. He wrote several collections of poetry, including Les Fleurs du Mal (1890) and Les Chansons de la Vieille France (1893). He also wrote several plays, including La Mort de César (1890) and La Mort de Socrate (1891). He was a friend of the poet Paul Verlaine and was a major influence on the French Symbolist movement.
