Leandro Fernández de Moratín (1760-1828) was a Spanish dramatist and poet. He was born in Madrid, the son of a famous playwright, Nicolás Fernández de Moratín. He studied at the University of Alcalá de Henares and later at the University of Salamanca. He is best known for his plays, which were written in the neoclassical style. His works include El sí de las niñas (1785), El siervo de su amo (1789), El teatro crítico (1790), and El sí de la mujer casada (1792). He also wrote several poems, including the epic poem La conjuración de Venecia (1798). Moratín was a member of the Spanish Royal Academy and was appointed as the director of the National Library of Madrid in 1814. He was also a professor of literature at the University of Madrid. He died in Madrid in 1828.
