The Master-player

The Master-Player is a story of a young man, named John, who is a master-player of the game of chess. He is a prodigy, and his skill is unmatched. The stranger reveals that he is a master-player from another world, and he has come to challenge John to a game of chess. John is intrigued, and he agrees to play the stranger in a series of games. The games become more and more intense, and John soon realizes that the stranger is not only a master-player, but also a master-teacher. He teaches John the secrets of the game, and John begins to understand the beauty and complexity of chess. John eventually becomes a master-player himself, and he is able to beat the stranger. The stranger reveals that he was sent to Earth to find a worthy opponent, and he has found one in John. The stranger leaves, and John is left with a newfound appreciation for the game of chess.
