Luke was a physician and a companion of the Apostle Paul. He is believed to have been a Gentile convert to Christianity, although this is not certain. He is traditionally believed to be the author of the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles in the New Testament of the Bible. Little is known about Luke's life. He is not mentioned by name in the Bible, but is referred to as the "beloved physician" (Colossians 4:14) and as "Luke, the beloved physician" (2 Timothy 4:11). He is believed to have been born in Antioch and to have traveled extensively with Paul. He is thought to have died in Greece, although the exact date and place of his death are unknown.
