Julius Cawein (1865–1914) was an American poet and author. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky, and was educated at the University of Louisville. He was a prolific writer, publishing over a dozen books of poetry and prose. His work was heavily influenced by the Romantic poets, particularly William Wordsworth and John Keats. He was also a great admirer of Walt Whitman. His most famous works include The Garden of Dreams (1902), The Poems of Madison Julius Cawein (1905), and The Poetical Works of Madison Julius Cawein (1909). He died in 1914 at the age of 49.
