Margaret Vandercook (1876–1958) was an American author of series fiction for young readers. Her books include the Ranch Girls, Camp Fire Girls and Red Cross Girls series. They combine travel and outdoor adventure with stories of friendship, independence and service. The Camp Fire Girls on the Edge of the Desert, published in 1917, follows the girls into Arizona and forms part of her broader body of fiction about girls’ experiences and ambitions.
