Margery Williams Bianco

Margery Williams Bianco (1881-1944) was an English-American author best known for her classic children's book The Velveteen Rabbit. Born in London, England, she was the daughter of a British civil servant and an American mother. She was educated at home and at a convent school in France. She wrote her first book, The House of Arden, in 1908. She wrote several other books for children, including The Velveteen Rabbit (1922), which has become a classic. She also wrote several books for adults, including The Real Mother Goose (1916) and The Golden Age (1927). She died in 1944 in New York City.
