Marian Isabel Hurrell was a British author of children's fiction active in the early-to-mid twentieth century, with works dated from roughly 1899 through the 1950s. No birth or death dates are documented in the standard bibliographic authority sources, and her biography remains largely undocumented beyond her published output. Hurrell specialized in moralistic and whimsical tales for young readers, often centered on family relationships, reconciliation, and fairy-tale reimaginings. Her notable works include Cinderella's Prince, a reworking of the Cinderella story; Enemies: A Tale for Little Lads and Lasses, which follows the conflict and reconciliation between two branches of the Rose family; A Golden Thread; The Adventures of Pollie Dare; The Gipsy's Secret; How Derek Won His Way; and The Adventures of Friskers and His Friends, illustrated by the noted cat illustrator Louis Wain. Several of her titles are in the public domain; others survive as rare and collectible editions through antiquarian booksellers.
