Mark Rutherford (1831–1913) was an English author and religious thinker. He was born in London and educated at University College London. He worked as a solicitor for many years, but his true passion was writing. He wrote several novels, including The Revolution in Tanner's Lane (1887), The Autobiography of Mark Rutherford (1881), and Mark Rutherford's Deliverance (1885). He also wrote several non-fiction works, including The Religion of a Rationalist (1891) and The Life of Jesus (1894). His works often explored themes of religion, philosophy, and morality. He was a member of the Rationalist Press Association and a member of the Fabian Society. He died in 1913 in London.
