Martha Young (1868-1947) was an American author and educator. She was born in New York City and attended the Normal College of the City of New York. She taught in the public schools of New York City and later became a principal. Young wrote several books for children, including Somebody's Little Girl (1910), The Little Brown House (1912), and The Little Brown House at Home (1914). She also wrote a number of books for adults, including The Education of the Negro (1917) and The Negro in the South (1919). Young was a member of the National Association of Colored Women and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. She was also a member of the National Council of Women of the United States. She was active in the suffrage movement and was a leader in the struggle for civil rights for African Americans.
