Traces of Crime by Mary Fortune

Traces of Crime is a crime novel by Mary Fortune, set in the Australian outback in the late 19th century. The story follows the investigation of a series of murders in the small town of Wirrawee. The victims are all members of the same family, and the only clues left behind are a few mysterious footprints. The local police are baffled by the case, and so they enlist the help of a young detective, Jack Marlowe. Jack is determined to solve the case, and he soon discovers that the murders are linked to a secret society known as the Brotherhood of the White Rose. Jack must unravel the secrets of the Brotherhood and uncover the truth behind the murders before it is too late. Along the way, he must also confront his own demons and confront the darkness that lurks within the town. Will Jack be able to solve the case and bring justice to Wirrawee? Or will the Brotherhood of the White Rose remain a mystery forever?
