The Massachusetts Sabbath School Society was founded in 1817 by a group of Congregational ministers in Boston, Massachusetts. The Society was established to promote the religious education of children and youth in the state. The Society provided resources and support to local churches and schools, and it published books and pamphlets to help teachers and students learn about the Bible and Christian faith. The Society also held annual meetings and conferences to discuss religious education and to encourage the formation of Sabbath schools. The Society was active until the mid-20th century, when it was dissolved in 1967.
