Maurice Maeterlinck (1862–1949) was a Belgian playwright, poet, and essayist. He was a leading figure in the Symbolist movement and is best known for his plays "Pelléas et Mélisande" and "The Blue Bird." Maeterlinck's work often explores themes of fate, death, and the mystical aspects of life. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1911.
