Miguel de Unamuno

Miguel de Unamuno y Jugo (1864-1936) was a Spanish philosopher, essayist, poet, and novelist. He was a major figure in the Spanish intellectual world of the early 20th century, and is best known for his works on existentialism and the human condition. He was a professor at the University of Salamanca, and was a major influence on the generation of Spanish writers that followed him. He was a vocal critic of the Spanish government and its policies, and was exiled from Spain in 1924. He returned to Spain in 1930, and died in 1936.
