Oliverio Girondo (August 17, 1891 – January 24, 1967) was an Argentine poet, playwright, and translator. He was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and is considered one of the most important figures of the avant-garde movement in Latin America. He was a member of the Ultraist literary movement, which sought to break away from traditional forms of poetry. His works are characterized by their surrealist and absurdist elements, as well as their use of irony and humor. He was also a translator of French and English works, including those of William Shakespeare, Charles Baudelaire, and Arthur Rimbaud. He died in Buenos Aires in 1967.
