Osborn H. Oldroyd (1842-1930) was an American historian, author, and Civil War veteran. He was born in Pennsylvania and served in the Union Army during the Civil War. After the war, he studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1868. He then moved to Washington, D.C., where he worked as a clerk in the U.S. Treasury Department. Oldroyd wrote several books about the Civil War, including The Assassination of Abraham Lincoln and Its Expiation (1901), The Lincoln Memorial: Album-Immortelles (1902), and The Life of Abraham Lincoln (1905). He also wrote a biography of Confederate General Robert E. Lee, titled Lee and His Generals in War and Peace (1902). Oldroyd was a member of the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States and the Grand Army of the Republic. He was also a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and the Society of the Cincinnati. He died in 1930 in Washington, D.C.
