Indiscretions of Archie

The story revolves around Archie Moffam, a young Englishman who has been sent to America by his family in search of employment. He checks into the Hotel Cosmopolis, which is owned and operated by Mr. Brewster, a strict and paternal proprietor. Archie's stay at the hotel is marred by a dripping tap outside his room, which keeps him awake all night. When he complains about it to Mr. Brewster, he is met with hostility and disdain. Archie's comments about the hotel's cleanliness and the lack of service from its employees further enrage Mr. Brewster, who sees them as an insult to his hotel and himself. The situation escalates, and Archie is asked to leave the hotel. He decides to take a train to Miami, where he has been invited to a house-party by Mrs. van Tuyl. Throughout the story, Archie's carefree and sarcastic nature clashes with Mr. Brewster's strict and uptight personality, leading to a series of comedic misunderstandings and conflicts. The narrative is laced with witty dialogue and humorous situations, showcasing the absurdities of life in a luxury hotel.
