Philip MacDonald (1899–1980) was a British author and screenwriter, best known for his detective fiction. He created the character Colonel Anthony Gethryn, featured in several novels. MacDonald was also a successful screenwriter in Hollywood, contributing to films such as "Rebecca" and "The Body Snatcher." He was a prominent figure in the Golden Age of Detective Fiction.
