Philip Verrill Mighels (1869-1944) was an American author and journalist. He was born in New York City and educated at Harvard University. He began his career as a journalist in the early 1890s, writing for the New York World and other newspapers. He later became a freelance writer, contributing to magazines such as Harper's, The Atlantic Monthly, and The Saturday Evening Post. Mighels wrote several books, including The American Citizen (1902), The American Gentleman (1905), and The American Gentleman's Guide to Modern Etiquette (1909). He also wrote several novels, including The House of a Thousand Candles (1906) and The House of the Whispering Pines (1910). He was a member of the Authors League of America and the National Institute of Arts and Letters. He died in 1944 in New York City.
