R.H. Tawney (1880–1962) was a British economic historian, social critic, and university professor. He was a prominent advocate for social justice and played a significant role in the development of the British Labour Party's policies. Tawney's work focused on the relationship between economic systems and social ethics, and he is best known for his books "The Acquisitive Society" (1920) and "Religion and the Rise of Capitalism" (1926). He was a professor at the London School of Economics and a key figure in the Workers' Educational Association.
