Ramón López Velarde

Ramón López Velarde (1888–1921) was a Mexican poet known for his modernist style and exploration of themes such as love, religion, and national identity. Born in Jerez, Zacatecas, he studied law but gained recognition for his poetry, particularly his collection "La sangre devota" (1916). His most famous poem, "La suave patria," reflects his deep connection to Mexico. López Velarde's work is characterized by its lyrical intensity and innovative use of language.
