Murray Gilchrist (1868-1941) was a Scottish author and journalist. He was born in Edinburgh and educated at the University of Edinburgh. He worked as a journalist for the Edinburgh Evening News and the Glasgow Herald, and wrote several books on Scottish history and culture. He was a member of the Royal Scottish Geographical Society and the Royal Society of Antiquaries of Scotland. He was also a keen collector of Scottish folklore and wrote several books on the subject. He was a prolific writer and his works include The Story of Scotland (1909), The Land of the Scots (1912), and The Scots in History (1914). He also wrote several novels, including The Laird of the Isles (1913) and The House of the Red Lion (1915).
