Rose Macaulay

Rose Macaulay (1881–1958) was a British writer known for her novels, essays, and travel writings. She was born in Rugby, England, and educated at Somerville College, Oxford. Macaulay's notable works include "The Towers of Trebizond" and "Pleasure of Ruins." Her writing often explored themes of social change, religion, and the complexities of human relationships. Macaulay was also a prominent literary critic and a member of the Bloomsbury Group.
