Rufino Blanco Fombona (1874–1944) was a Venezuelan poet, essayist, and literary critic. He was born in Caracas, Venezuela, and studied law at the Central University of Venezuela. He was a prominent figure in the Latin American literary movement known as Modernismo, and was a major influence on the development of Venezuelan literature. He wrote several books of poetry, including La canción del alma (1902), La canción de la tierra (1905), and La canción de la vida (1909). He also wrote several essays, including El modernismo (1909) and El romanticismo (1910). He was a member of the Venezuelan Academy of Language, and was awarded the National Prize for Literature in 1941. He died in Caracas in 1944.
