Tattine by Ruth Ogden (1898)
Tattine is a story about a young girl named Tattine who lives in a small village in the middle of a forest. She is a brave and adventurous girl who loves to explore the forest and its creatures. One day, she discovers a mysterious egg in the forest and decides to take it home. When the egg hatches, Tattine finds herself the proud owner of a baby dragon. She names him Sparky and the two quickly become best friends. Tattine and Sparky go on many adventures together, learning about the world and the creatures that inhabit it. Along the way, they make new friends and discover the power of friendship and loyalty. But when danger threatens their village, Tattine and Sparky must use their courage and strength to protect their home and the people they love.
