Sarah Tyson Rorer (1849-1937) was an American cookbook author, cooking teacher, and home economist. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and began her career as a home economics teacher at the Philadelphia School of Cookery. She wrote over 20 cookbooks, including Mrs. Rorer's New Cook Book (1902), Mrs. Rorer's Philadelphia Cook Book (1903), and Mrs. Rorer's Vegetable Cookery and Meat Substitutes (1909). She was a popular lecturer and cooking teacher, and was the first woman to be appointed as a lecturer at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy. She was also the first woman to be appointed as a lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania. She was a founding member of the American Home Economics Association and served as its president from 1906 to 1908.
