Sigrid Undset (1882–1949) was a Norwegian novelist, born in Kalundborg, Denmark. She is best known for her trilogy "Kristin Lavransdatter," set in medieval Norway, which earned her the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1928. Undset's works often explore themes of religion, history, and the roles of women. She converted to Catholicism in 1924, which significantly influenced her writing.
