Socrates

Socrates (c. 470–399 BC) was an ancient Greek philosopher who is widely considered to be one of the founders of Western philosophy. He is renowned for his Socratic method of questioning, which aimed to draw out a person's underlying beliefs and challenge commonly held ideas. He is also known for his famous quotes, such as "the unexamined life is not worth living" and "know thyself." Socrates was tried and convicted of corrupting the youth of Athens and was sentenced to death by drinking hemlock. His death is seen as a martyrdom for free thought and inquiry.
