Stanley Gimble (1917-2006) was an American author and journalist. He was born in New York City and attended the University of Wisconsin. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and afterwards worked as a reporter for the New York Post and the New York Herald Tribune. Gimble wrote several novels, including Breakaway (1955), The Biggest Game in Town (1956), and The Man Who Couldn't Lose (1958). He also wrote several non-fiction books, including The Great American Hoax (1962) and The Great American Swindle (1966). He was a frequent contributor to magazines such as The Saturday Evening Post, Collier's, and Esquire.
