Stephen David Durrant (1917-2006) was an American zoologist and mammalogist. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, and received his B.A. from the University of Utah in 1940. He then went on to earn his M.A. from the University of California, Berkeley in 1942 and his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in 1948. Durrant was a professor of zoology at the University of Utah from 1948 to 1982. He was also a research associate at the University of Utah's Natural History Museum of Utah from 1982 to 2006. Durrant was a prolific author, publishing over 100 scientific papers and books. He was an expert on the mammals of the western United States, and his book Additional Records and Extensions of Known Ranges of Mammals from Utah was published in 1955. He was also a member of the American Society of Mammalogists and the American Society of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists.
