T.E. Lawrence (1888-1935) was a British soldier, diplomat, and writer. He is best known for his role in the Arab Revolt of 1916-1918, during which he helped lead the Arab forces against the Ottoman Empire. He wrote several books about his experiences, including Seven Pillars of Wisdom and The Mint. He was also known for his eccentricity and his ability to blend in with the local culture. After the war, he served in the British military and diplomatic corps, and was involved in the negotiations that led to the creation of the state of Iraq. He died in 1935 in a motorcycle accident.
