In this letter, the Lord Bishop of London, Thomas Sherlock, addresses the clergy and people of London and Westminster. He begins by expressing his deep concern for the spiritual and moral state of the city, and his desire to see it restored to its former glory. He then goes on to discuss the importance of the Church in the life of the city, and how it can help to bring about a spiritual revival. He encourages the clergy to be diligent in their preaching and teaching, and to be examples of Christian living. He also encourages the people to attend church regularly, to be generous in their giving, and to be active in their participation in the life of the Church. Finally, he reminds them of the importance of prayer, and of the need to seek God's guidance in all things.
