Vasili Grossman was a Soviet writer and journalist, born on December 12, 1905, in Berdychiv, Ukraine. He studied at Moscow State University and initially worked as a chemical engineer. Grossman gained recognition for his war reporting during World War II, particularly for his coverage of the Battle of Stalingrad. His major works include the novels "Life and Fate" and "Everything Flows," which were critical of the Soviet regime. Grossman's writings often explored themes of totalitarianism and human suffering. He died on September 14, 1964, in Moscow.
