Virna Sheard

Virna Sheard (1881-1955) was a Canadian author and poet. She was born in Toronto, Ontario, and was educated at the University of Toronto. Sheard was a prolific writer, publishing over twenty books of poetry, fiction, and non-fiction. Her most famous work is the novel Carry On (1917), which was adapted into a play and a film. Sheard was also a prominent member of the Canadian literary community, serving as the president of the Canadian Authors Association from 1923 to 1925. She was also a founding member of the League of Canadian Poets. Sheard was a passionate advocate for women's rights and was a vocal supporter of the suffrage movement. She was also an active member of the Theosophical Society. Sheard died in 1955 in Toronto.
