Viscount Bertrand Edward Dawson Dawson (1864–1944) was a British author, politician, and soldier. He was born in London, the son of the 1st Viscount Dawson of Penn. He was educated at Eton College and the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. Dawson served in the British Army from 1884 to 1891, and was a Member of Parliament for the Conservative Party from 1895 to 1906. He was a member of the House of Lords from 1906 to 1944. Dawson wrote several books, including The Life of the Right Honourable Sir Robert Peel (1905), The Life of the Right Honourable William Ewart Gladstone (1909), and The Life of the Right Honourable Arthur James Balfour (1912). He also wrote a number of books on military history, including The War in South Africa (1902) and The Great War (1914). Dawson was made a Knight Commander of the Order of the Bath in 1916, and was awarded the Order of the British Empire in 1919. He died in 1944.
