W. B.

W. B. is known only by the initials signed to The Elephant's Ball, and Grand Fete Champetre, a children's poem published in London by J. Harris in 1807. No full name or other work has been traced to these initials. The poem belongs to the wave of imitations that followed William Roscoe's The Butterfly's Ball and the Grasshopper's Feast (1807), in which animals gather for a feast and a dance, and opens with the Elephant resolving that the beasts should outdo the balls already given by the insects and the birds.
