William Charles Egan (1860-1937) was an English horticulturist and author. He was born in London and educated at the Royal Horticultural Society's gardens at Wisley. He was a member of the Royal Horticultural Society and the Royal Botanic Society. Egan wrote several books on gardening, including Making a Garden of Perennials (1912), The Gardeners' Guide to Planting and Pruning (1913), and The Gardeners' Guide to Planting and Pruning (1914). He also wrote a number of articles for gardening magazines. Egan was a passionate advocate for the use of perennials in gardens, and his book Making a Garden of Perennials was one of the first to focus on the subject. He was also a proponent of the use of native plants in gardens, and he wrote extensively on the subject. Egan died in 1937 at the age of 77.
