Waldemar Bonsels

Waldemar Bonsels (1881–1962) was a German author and naturalist best known for his children's book Die Biene Maja und ihre Abenteuer (The Adventures of Maya the Bee). Bonsels was born in Berlin and studied zoology and botany at the University of Berlin. He worked as a naturalist and journalist, and wrote several books on natural history. He also wrote several novels, including Die Biene Maja und ihre Abenteuer, which was published in 1912 and became a classic of children's literature. Bonsels was also a pacifist and wrote several books on the subject, including Der Krieg und die Jugend (War and Youth). He died in 1962 in Munich.
